Dr Steven Yang

Dr Steven Yang is a highly qualified Orthopaedic Surgeon who specialises in spinal and hand surgery. With a clinical focus on complex spine reconstruction and spinal deformity surgery, he provides comprehensive care for both adult and paediatric patients. Dr Yang is dedicated to utilising advanced surgical techniques to address a wide range of conditions, including vertebral tumours, scoliosis, and peripheral nerve issues. His patient-centred approach ensures that each individual receives a tailored treatment plan designed to optimise recovery and improve quality of life.

Throughout his career, Dr Yang has developed significant expertise in leading-edge surgical procedures. He is particularly skilled in endoscopic spine surgery and minimally invasive fusion techniques, transitioning from traditional open surgeries to modern anterior, lateral, and posterior approaches. This commitment to minimally invasive methods helps to reduce recovery times and improve patient outcomes. In addition to his spinal work, Dr Yang is highly proficient in hand and wrist surgery, offering specialised care for complex upper limb conditions and trauma-related injuries.

Dr Yang completed his medical degrees, obtaining a Bachelor of Human Biology (BHB) and a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBChB). He undertook advanced training in orthopaedic surgery and was awarded his Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (FRACS) in 2004. To further refine his skills, he completed post-fellowship training in hand surgery and complex spine surgery, alongside visiting fellowships in the United States and Europe. Dr Yang is an active member of the international medical community, serving as the Australian Director for both the International Society for Advancement of Spine Surgery (ISASS-AP) and the Society for Minimally Invasive Spine Surgery (SMISS-AP). Previously, he has also served as the Director of Orthopaedic Surgery and Director of Spine Surgery Fellowship at a major tertiary referral hospital.
