Dr Stephen Hing

Dr Stephen Hing is a highly regarded Ophthalmologist who specialises in paediatric eye care and strabismus. With a reassuring and patient-centred approach, Dr Hing is dedicated to diagnosing and treating a wide range of vision and eye conditions in children, as well as managing complex strabismus (misaligned eyes) in both paediatric and adult patients. His clinical focus is on delivering precise, compassionate care tailored to the unique developmental needs of young patients.

Throughout his distinguished career, Dr Hing has held significant leadership roles, including serving as the Head of the Department of Ophthalmology at a major paediatric hospital. He is also deeply committed to medical education, regularly teaching and training future eye specialists in paediatric and strabismus care across Australia and internationally, including in Vietnam, China, and Cambodia. As a respected authority in his field, he is a widely published researcher and a frequent speaker at medical conferences.

Dr Hing earned his Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) from the University of Sydney. He completed his specialist ophthalmic training in Auckland and Sydney, followed by advanced subspecialty fellowship training in paediatric ophthalmology at a world-renowned children's hospital in London. To further his expertise, he also completed a sabbatical at a leading paediatric medical centre in Philadelphia, USA. Dr Hing is a Fellow of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Ophthalmologists (FRANZCO) and a Fellow of the Royal College of Ophthalmologists (FRCOphth). He maintains active memberships in several prestigious professional bodies, including the Paediatric Special Interest Group of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Ophthalmologists, and the American Association for Paediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus.
