Dr Sonia Sharma Ghai

Dr Sonia Sharma Ghai is a dedicated Consultant General Adult Psychiatrist who provides comprehensive, evidence-based mental health care. With a compassionate and non-judgemental approach, she focuses on delivering individualised treatment tailored to each patient's unique circumstances. Dr Sharma Ghai works collaboratively with individuals to conduct detailed clinical assessments, establishing a supportive therapeutic framework that promotes long-term recovery and well-being.

Her clinical practice encompasses a broad range of psychiatric and psychological conditions. Dr Sharma Ghai has a particular interest in perinatal psychiatry and women's mental health, as well as managing co-morbid medical and psychiatric disorders. She is highly experienced in treating mood disorders, anxiety disorders, obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), psychosis, schizophrenia, and bipolar affective disorder. To support her patients, she offers both psychiatric care and skill-based psychotherapeutic treatments, including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Interpersonal Therapy (IPT), and mindfulness.

Dr Sharma Ghai completed her undergraduate medical degree and postgraduate qualifications in Psychiatry in Mumbai, India. After relocating to Australia, she gained extensive experience working across a variety of public mental health settings, including community, inpatient, and rehabilitation services. She is a Fellow of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists (RANZCP), reflecting her commitment to maintaining the highest standards of clinical excellence and ongoing professional development.
