Dr Soji Swaraj

Dr. Soji Swaraj is a Consultant Endocrinologist and Metabolic Physician providing expert care across Campbelltown, Burwood, and Moore Park. He offers personalised consultations for a wide range of hormonal and metabolic conditions, including diabetes, polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), thyroid disorders, and weight management issues. His clinical expertise extends to treating complex endocrine conditions such as pituitary and adrenal gland disorders, osteoporosis, hirsutism, and hair loss, as well as providing pre-conception endocrinology assessments.

Dr. Swaraj holds a consultant post at Concord Hospital and plays an active academic role as a teacher and supervisor of medical students at the University of Sydney, the University of New South Wales (UNSW), and the University of Western Sydney (UWS). He receives referrals both nationally and internationally, particularly for his expertise in PCOS, diabesity, and metabolic syndrome.

His special interests include developing early-career diabetes strategies, enhancing quality of life in older adults with diabetes, and managing insulin resistance and PCOS in elite athletes, particularly focused on their transition to post-competition health. He also conducts endocrine assessments for individuals with multiple or severe concussions to evaluate potential pituitary insufficiency.

Dr. Swaraj studied medicine at the University of Sydney and completed specialist training in internal medicine and endocrinology at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital. He received advanced training in diabetes under the mentorship of renowned experts such as Professor John Turtle and Professor Dennis Yue, and studied metabolism and obesity under Professor Ian Caterson. He went on to complete a PhD in molecular endocrinology under Professor David Handelsman, during which he developed a transgenic mouse model exploring the role of follicle-stimulating hormone in spermatogenesis.
