Dr Smitha Sukumar is a highly accomplished Dentist who provides comprehensive dental care with a focus on patient-centred, holistic management. As an experienced Associate Dentist, she is dedicated to delivering high-quality treatments that support both oral health and overall well-being. Her clinical approach combines advanced restorative techniques with a deep understanding of oral health, ensuring that each patient receives personalised and reassuring care.

Dr Sukumar completed her Bachelor of Dental Surgery at the University of Adelaide in 2001. Committed to advancing her clinical expertise, she undertook postgraduate training in the United Kingdom, earning a Master of Science in Conservative Dentistry with Distinction from University College London. Her academic achievements also include a PhD in Oral Bacteria. Dr Sukumar is a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Dental Surgeons, where she also serves as an Examiner for their prestigious fellowship and membership programmes.

In addition to her clinical practice, Dr Sukumar is a respected Academic and Researcher. She serves as a Senior Lecturer at the University of Sydney, teaching undergraduate, postgraduate, and specialist programmes, with a particular focus on tooth conservation and integrated treatment planning. As a Clinician-Scientist, she leads research into the oral microbiome, exploring the complex relationships between oral microbial ecology, antimicrobial resistance, and systemic health.
