Dr Simone Sarah Raye

Dr Simone Sarah Raye is a highly respected and dedicated General Practitioner who provides comprehensive, holistic healthcare to her patients. As a proud Bardi and Jabirr Jabirr woman with deep roots in the Dampier Peninsula, she brings a unique, culturally safe, and community-minded perspective to her clinical practice. Dr Raye is deeply committed to delivering high-quality, empathetic care, ensuring that every patient feels heard and supported throughout their healthcare journey. Her outstanding contributions to the medical community were highlighted when she was named the Northern Territory General Practitioner of the Year for 2025 by the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners.

In her daily practice, Dr Raye embraces a broad and varied scope of medicine, reflecting her belief in the value of versatile, patient-centred care. Her clinical interests span several key areas, including women's health, children's health, sports medicine, and LGBTQIA+ medicine. She is particularly passionate about First Nations health, working tirelessly to improve health outcomes and promote cultural safety within the healthcare system. Dr Raye's approach is characterised by a commitment to holistic care, allowing her to address the diverse and complex needs of her patients with great sensitivity and expertise.

Dr Raye completed her medical education at the University of Newcastle, graduating with a Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) in 2000. Following her graduation, she returned to the Northern Territory to gain extensive clinical experience across various hospital departments before completing her specialist General Practice training. She holds a Fellowship of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (FRACGP). In addition to her clinical work, Dr Raye is a prominent leader and advocate in the medical sector, serving as the President of the Australian Indigenous Doctors' Association (AIDA), a Board Director of the Northern Territory Primary Health Network (NT PHN), and a Member of the Cancer Australia Advisory Council. She also contributes to the future of the profession in her role as a Medical Educator.
