Dr Roger Berry

Dr Roger Berry is a Consultant General and Hepato-Pancreato-Biliary (HPB) Surgeon with extensive experience in complex abdominal and upper gastrointestinal surgery, including conditions affecting the liver, pancreas, gallbladder, and biliary system. He has been practising at Cabrini Hospital Malvern and Monash Medical Centre since 1999 and also works as a Senior Lecturer within the Monash University Department of Surgery.

He graduated from Monash University in 1986 and obtained his Fellowship in General Surgery in 1996, followed by advanced subspecialist training in hepatobiliary surgery and liver transplantation. His clinical expertise covers liver, pancreatic, gallbladder, and biliary tract surgery, along with robotic, laparoscopic and open hernia repair, including groin and abdominal wall hernias. He also manages emergency general surgical conditions such as acute appendicitis, cholecystitis, and obstructive jaundice, and is available for urgent assessment of complex upper gastrointestinal and hepatobiliary presentations.

In addition, Dr Berry has a strong interest in minimally invasive surgical techniques, particularly robotic and laparoscopic approaches to hernia repair and complex abdominal surgery. He has previously worked as a liver transplant surgeon and remains actively involved in surgical education, training, and academic development. He is a member of the Australian and New Zealand Hepato-Biliary Association and has held leadership roles within his field, including Head of the Upper GI Surgical Craft Group at Cabrini.
