Dr Sheila Rahman

Dr Sheila Rahman is a specialist geriatrician providing inpatient and outpatient services across the Illawarra region including Figtree Private Hospital and Wollongong Private Hospital and Macarthur Surgical Group. She delivers holistic, evidence-based care for older adults, with a focus on optimising function, independence and long-term health outcomes. Her work spans perioperative medicine, cognitive and memory assessment, falls and bone health, comprehensive geriatric assessment and rehabilitation support.

She has particular expertise in perioperative risk assessment and optimisation for older adults undergoing elective or urgent surgery, supporting the management of frailty, dementia and co-existing medical conditions. Dr Rahman also provides detailed Comprehensive Geriatric Assessment, including medication review, diagnostic clarification and multidisciplinary care planning. She assesses and manages suspected cognitive decline or dementia, and offers support for falls prevention, osteoporosis management and secondary fracture risk reduction.
