Dr Shashjit Varma

Associate Professor Shashjit Varma is a highly respected Consultant Psychiatrist who provides comprehensive psychiatric care. With a focus on general adult psychiatry, Dr Varma is dedicated to supporting patients through their mental health journeys. He delivers both inpatient and outpatient care, utilising evidence-based approaches to help individuals manage complex psychiatric conditions. Throughout his distinguished career, Dr Varma has developed deep expertise in treating a wide range of mental health conditions. His primary areas of clinical interest include addiction medicine, anxiety disorders, bipolar disorder, depression, and schizophrenia. In addition to his clinical practice, Dr Varma has held various academic positions, contributed to psychiatric research with numerous published papers, and been involved in training Psychiatric Registrars. He also conducts independent medicolegal assessments, applying his extensive clinical knowledge to assist in legal and medical evaluations.

Dr Varma completed his foundational medical education in India, earning a Bachelor of Science from Christian College in Lucknow, followed by a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) from King George's Medical College at the University of Lucknow. He went on to obtain a Doctor of Medicine (MD) in Psychiatry from the same institution, and later completed a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Psychiatry at the Institute of Medical Sciences in Varanasi.
