Dr Shanthi Kannan

Dr Shanthi Kannan is a highly qualified Nuclear Medicine Specialist and Endocrinologist who provides comprehensive, patient-centred care. With dual specialisation, she brings a unique and integrated perspective to diagnosing and managing complex endocrine disorders and metabolic conditions. Her clinical practice focuses on utilising advanced imaging techniques to deliver precise diagnoses, ensuring that each patient receives a tailored and effective treatment plan.

Dr Kannan completed her medical education at Annamalai University, where she graduated with a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) in 1993. Committed to maintaining the highest standards of clinical excellence, she went on to achieve dual specialist recognition. She is a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (FRACP) and a Fellow of the Australasian Association of Nuclear Medicine Specialists (FAANMS). These prestigious fellowships reflect her advanced training and expertise in both internal medicine and nuclear medicine.

In her clinical practice, Dr Kannan has a particular interest in myocardial perfusion imaging, ventilation and perfusion single-photon emission computed tomography (V/Q SPECT), and the diagnostic applications of nuclear medicine in endocrine disorders. Her expertise spans the management of diabetes, thyroid diseases, bone and calcium disorders, and adrenal and pituitary conditions.
