Dr Sean Brennan

Dr Sean Brennan is a highly dedicated and compassionate Radiation Oncologist who is committed to delivering advanced, patient-centred cancer care. With a focus on providing high-quality treatment closer to home, he has played a pivotal role in expanding access to modern radiation therapy for regional and rural communities. Dr Brennan is known for his reassuring approach, ensuring that patients and their support networks feel thoroughly guided and supported throughout their treatment journey.

Throughout his distinguished career, Dr Brennan has developed extensive expertise in treating a wide range of malignancies. His primary clinical interests include breast cancer, skin cancers, and the application of highly targeted treatment techniques. He is particularly skilled in utilising advanced technologies such as stereotactic radiation therapy for bone, spine, and lung cancers, as well as Deep Inspiration Breath Hold (DIBH) to protect healthy tissue during breast cancer treatments. Dr Brennan is also a strong advocate for precision medicine, incorporating innovative molecular tests to help predict outcomes and personalise treatment plans for non-invasive breast cancers.

Dr Brennan completed his medical training at the University of Zimbabwe, qualifying with a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery in 1986. He subsequently undertook specialist training in radiation oncology, obtaining a Fellowship of the College of Radiologists of South Africa. Committed to maintaining the highest standards of clinical excellence, he is a Fellow of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Radiologists (FRANZCR). Dr Brennan has also contributed significantly to the medical community through leadership roles, including serving as a Regional Medical Director and as the Chief of Examinations and Chief Censor in Radiation Oncology for the college, where he helped shape the training and assessment of future specialists.
