Dr. Scott Blackwell

Dr Scott Blackwell is a General Practitioner and Practice Principal at Collaborative Healthcare in Western Australia. He studied Medicine at the University of Western Australia, graduating in 1968, and has dedicated more than five decades to general practice and community health.

Dr Blackwell spent over 35 years at Scarborough Beach Medical Centre, where he practised as a GP with special interests in obstetrics and anaesthetics before focusing on aged and palliative care. In 2011, he co-founded Collaborative Primary Health Care WA (CPHCWA), a service dedicated to providing medical care for residents of residential aged care facilities. Since 2019, he has jointly led Joondanna Medical Centre as part of the Collaborative team.

Alongside his clinical work, Dr Blackwell has held numerous leadership roles in medicine. He has served as President of the Australian Medical Association WA, President of Palliative Care WA and Palliative Care Australia, Chair of the Medical Council and of the Clinical Senate of WA. He was also a member of the working party for the Voluntary Assisted Dying legislation in 2019.

Outside of medicine, Dr Blackwell is an accomplished hockey player, regularly competing in local, interstate, and international Masters hockey tournaments.
