Dr Sara Fergusson

Dr Sara Fergusson is a highly dedicated and compassionate General Practitioner who specialises in rural and remote medicine. With a career defined by a deep commitment to community health, she provides comprehensive primary care to patients across all stages of life. Dr Fergusson has a particular interest in rural generalist medicine, emergency care, and paediatric health, ensuring that individuals in regional areas receive the highest standard of medical attention. Her reassuring and patient-centred approach helps build strong, trusting relationships with those under her care.

Dr Fergusson obtained her primary medical degree, a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBChB), from a prestigious university in Scotland before relocating to Australia. She has since achieved several advanced qualifications, including a Diploma in Obstetrics. Dr Fergusson is a Fellow of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners with a Rural Generalist recognition (FRACGP-RG), a Fellow of the Australian College of Rural and Remote Medicine (FACRRM), and holds a Fellowship of Advanced Rural General Practice (FARGP). She is also actively involved in medical education, supporting and mentoring future General Practitioners as a Medical Educator and Supervisor Liaison Officer.

Throughout her distinguished career, Dr Fergusson has accumulated vast experience in diverse and challenging environments. She initially worked as a Paediatric Registrar and later gained critical experience as an Emergency Registrar in a major metropolitan hospital. Her passion for rural health led her to serve as a District Medical Officer in remote regions of the Northern Territory and to work with a national aeromedical service. This extensive background in both emergency and remote medicine equips her with the unique skills required to manage complex clinical scenarios and deliver exceptional healthcare to regional communities.
