Dr Sameera Bhayat

Dr Sameera Bhayat is a dedicated and compassionate General Practitioner who is committed to providing her patients with the highest standard of holistic care. With a strong focus on preventative medicine and patient-centred care, she strives to build trusting, long-term relationships with individuals and families. Dr Bhayat believes in shared decision-making, ensuring that every patient feels heard, supported, and actively involved in their own healthcare journey. Her outstanding contributions to primary care were nationally recognised when she was awarded the prestigious Outstanding General Practitioner Award.

As a versatile General Practitioner, Dr Bhayat enjoys all aspects of general medicine, with a particular passion for women's and children's health. She has completed additional training in women's health, enabling her to offer comprehensive contraceptive advice, cervical screening, and pregnancy planning and early management. She is also deeply passionate about supporting new mothers, providing breastfeeding advice and guidance through the unique challenges of early parenthood. Additionally, Dr Bhayat has a strong interest in mental health, particularly perinatal and infant mental health, as well as travel medicine, sexual and reproductive health, and refugee healthcare.

Dr Bhayat holds a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) and has completed a Diploma in Child Health (DCH) to support her extensive work with babies, children, and adolescents. She is a Fellow of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (FRACGP). Beyond her clinical practice, Dr Bhayat is a dedicated Medical Educator who contributes to training the next generation of doctors as an Examiner for both the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners and a leading university. She is also an active Executive Member of the Australian Islamic Medical Association (AIMA) Victoria and serves as a GP Advisory Group Member for a national perinatal mental health organisation.
