Dr Rowena Martin

Dr Rowena Martin is a highly dedicated Radiation Oncologist who specialises in the treatment of breast and lung malignancies. She is deeply committed to providing personalised, patient-centred care, ensuring that each individual receives a tailored treatment plan designed to achieve the best possible clinical outcomes. Dr Martin is passionate about utilising advanced medical technologies to minimise treatment-related side effects and enhance patient comfort throughout their therapeutic journey.

In her clinical practice, Dr Martin focuses on the integration of modern radiotherapy techniques. She has actively implemented advanced protocols, such as Deep Inspiration Breath Hold and the use of breast cups, which are specifically designed to reduce potential toxicity and protect healthy surrounding tissues during radiation therapy. Dr Martin values building long-term alliances with her patients, offering compassionate support and guidance from the initial consultation through to long-term follow-up care. She also collaborates closely with multidisciplinary cancer care teams to ensure comprehensive and coordinated treatment.

Dr Martin completed her medical education at the University of Sydney, graduating with a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery in 1994. She subsequently undertook specialist training in radiation oncology, achieving her Fellowship of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Radiologists in 2005. She is an active Fellow of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Radiologists.

Beyond her direct patient care, Dr Martin is heavily involved in medical education and professional leadership. She serves as a Conjoint Lecturer at the University of New South Wales, where she teaches and mentors medical students. She has also held the role of Director of Training for Advanced Trainees in Radiation Oncology and serves as the International Medical Graduate Assessor for Radiation Oncology in Australia, contributing significantly to the training and assessment of the next generation of oncology specialists.
