Dr Robert Finlayson

Dr Robert Finlayson is a highly regarded Sexual Health Physician and Vocationally Registered General Practitioner who is dedicated to providing comprehensive, compassionate care. With extensive clinical experience in sexual health and HIV medicine, he offers a supportive and non-judgemental environment for patients seeking guidance on a wide range of intimate health matters. His clinical focus encompasses the prevention, diagnosis, and management of sexually transmissible infections, chronic hepatitis, and human immunodeficiency virus (HIV).

In addition to his clinical practice, Dr Finlayson has made significant contributions to medical research and education. He has been actively involved in clinical care, research, and teaching, and serves as a Conjoint Senior Lecturer at the University of New South Wales. Notably, he co-authored a landmark paper in The Lancet that characterised HIV seroconversion illness and chaired a primary HIV infection working group for a national research body. Dr Finlayson obtained his Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery from the University of Sydney in 1978, subsequently earning a Diploma in Venereology from London. He became a Fellow of the Australasian College of Sexual Health Physicians in 1990 and was elected to a Senior Fellowship in 1998. Furthermore, he is a Founding Fellow of the Australasian Chapter of Sexual Health Medicine within the Royal Australasian College of Physicians, reflecting his high standing and expertise within the medical community.
