Dr Robert Boland-Freitas

Dr Robert Boland-Freitas is a highly qualified Consultant Neurologist and Clinical Neurophysiologist who provides comprehensive care for patients experiencing a wide range of neurological conditions. With a patient-centred approach, he focuses on diagnosing and managing complex disorders of the nervous system. His clinical practice encompasses general neurology, with a particular emphasis on neuromuscular disorders, headaches, and muscle diseases. He is dedicated to delivering reassuring, evidence-based care to help patients navigate their neurological health journeys.

In addition to general neurology, Dr Boland-Freitas has extensive expertise in clinical neurophysiology, including nerve conduction studies and electromyography. He is highly skilled in administering specialised injection therapies, such as botulinum toxin treatments, for various neurological disorders. These targeted therapies are utilised to manage chronic conditions including migraines, dystonia, and hyperhidrosis. His deep interest in neuromuscular disorders, particularly muscular and myotonic dystrophies, allows him to offer advanced insights and tailored management plans for patients living with these challenging conditions.

Dr Boland-Freitas completed his medical degree at the University of New South Wales, obtaining his Bachelor of Science (Medicine) and Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery. He completed his specialist training in neurology across several major teaching hospitals before undertaking a dedicated fellowship in clinical neurophysiology. He attained professional accreditation as a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians. Committed to advancing the field of neurology, he also completed Doctor of Philosophy studies at the University of Sydney, where his research focused on utilising novel neurophysiological methods to investigate muscle diseases. He has also served as a Director of a neurophysiology department, contributing his leadership and expertise to the wider medical community.
