Dr Richard Talbot

Dr Richard Talbot is a highly accomplished Consultant Anaesthetist and Specialist Pain Medicine Physician who has dedicated his career to helping patients manage complex and chronic pain conditions. With a clinical approach centred on providing compassionate, comprehensive, and multidisciplinary care, he works closely with patients to improve their quality of life. His practice spans both anaesthesia and specialised pain management, ensuring that individuals receive tailored treatment plans designed to address their unique physical and emotional needs.

Dr Talbot obtained his primary medical qualification from University College Dublin in 1998. He began his specialist training in Anaesthesia and Intensive Care Medicine in 1999, subsequently expanding his expertise into Pain Medicine in 2004. After completing postgraduate fellowships in Ireland, he relocated to Australia to undertake further advanced fellowships in both Anaesthesia and Pain Medicine. This extensive training included dedicated sub-specialist education in paediatric pain management, equipping him with the skills to care for patients of all ages.

In addition to his clinical practice, Dr Talbot is deeply committed to medical education and research. He serves as a Senior Clinical Lecturer, sharing his knowledge with the next generation of medical professionals, and is an active Examiner for the Faculty of Pain Medicine within the Australian and New Zealand College of Anaesthetists (ANZCA). Dr Talbot has contributed significantly to the wider medical community, having authored numerous peer-reviewed papers and a book chapter on pain management, as well as presenting his research at national and international conferences.
