Dr Richard Sullivan

Dr Richard Sullivan is a highly qualified General Practitioner and Pain Medicine Specialist who is dedicated to providing comprehensive, patient-centred care. He adopts a holistic, contemporary, and interdisciplinary approach to managing chronic pain, focusing on improving his patients' overall quality of life. By integrating patient education, functional restoration, and advanced interventional therapies, Dr Sullivan ensures that each individual receives a tailored treatment plan designed to address their unique circumstances.

With a diverse range of clinical interests, Dr Sullivan specialises in post-surgical pain management for both cancer survivors and non-cancer patients. He has a particular focus on neuromodulation therapies, utilising both clinical practice and active research to offer cutting-edge solutions. His expertise also encompasses the diagnosis and management of complex regional pain syndrome, neuropathic pain, sciatica, facet joint pain, back and neck pain, and persistent headaches.

Dr Sullivan obtained his Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery from the University of Otago in 1998. He subsequently became a Fellow of the Australian and New Zealand College of Anaesthetists in 2008, followed by becoming a Fellow of the Faculty of Pain Medicine, Australian and New Zealand College of Anaesthetists in 2012. A respected leader in his field, he is a former President of the Neuromodulation Society of Australia and New Zealand and has served as a Director at Large for the International Neuromodulation Society. Additionally, he is a Faculty Examiner and sits on the Procedural Pain Steering Committee for the Australasian Faculty of Pain Medicine, and has previously served as a Board Member for the Australian Pain Society.
