Dr Richard Plomley

Dr Richard Plomley is a highly qualified Clinical Immunologist and Specialist Allergist who provides comprehensive care for infants, children, and adults. He specialises in the diagnosis, management, and treatment of a wide range of immunological and allergic conditions. His clinical focus encompasses general allergic disorders, including hay fever, asthma, eczema, hives, and food allergies. Dr Plomley is dedicated to delivering patient-centred care, helping individuals manage chronic symptoms and improve their overall quality of life through tailored treatment plans.

With a deep interest in advanced therapeutic options, Dr Plomley offers specialised treatments such as immunomodulation for chronic severe dermatitis and hives. He is particularly interested in modern diagnostic laboratory methods for food allergies and the administration of allergen vaccines for sensitivities to cats, dogs, dust mites, grass pollen, and bee and wasp venom. Additionally, he manages complex cases involving anaphylaxis, drug allergies, insect stings, and cosmetic contact allergies. His expertise also extends to the management of primary and secondary immune deficiencies, including running transfusion clinics for patients requiring specialised immunological support.

Dr Plomley completed his undergraduate medical training at the University of Melbourne, obtaining his Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery in 1974. He went on to become a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians in General Internal Medicine in 1982, and completed a Master of Medicine in 1983. To further his expertise, he undertook extensive clinical immunology research at a university department of medicine and laboratory immunology research at the University of Western Ontario in Canada. He also completed dedicated clinical allergy studies and has held clinical roles across various public allergy clinics, paediatric transplant units, and private consulting suites.
