Dr. Richard Hanney is a highly skilled General Surgeon with a diverse range of interests, spanning from elective hernia repair and gall bladder surgery to endoscopy/colonoscopy and emergency treatments for cancer and trauma. He completed his Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery from the University of Sydney/Royal Prince Alfred Hospital, Faculty of Medicine, graduating in 1988.
Dr. Hanney has pursued extensive postgraduate education and certifications, including recertification in various years, DSTC (Definitive Surgical Trauma Care) certification in 2002 and 2005, and accreditation in Colonoscopy by Conjoint Committee GESA. He has been actively involved in teaching and training, serving as an EMST Course Director, EMST (ATLS) Course Instructor, and completing the EMST (ATLS) Instructor course in July 1995.
Dr. Hanney has held several significant positions, including Head of the Department of Surgery at Mount Druitt Hospital from 2012 to 2013. He is currently a Clinical Senior Lecturer at the University of Sydney, where he shares his knowledge and expertise with aspiring medical professionals. Additionally, he serves as a Visiting Medical Officer (VMO) General Surgeon at Westmead Hospital Acute Surgical Unit and has been credentialed at Minchinbury, Westmead Private, and Nepean Private Hospitals.
