Dr Rasitha Tennakoon

Dr Rasitha Tennakoon is a highly dedicated Consultant Geriatrician and Physician who specialises in providing comprehensive, patient-centred care for older adults. With a focus on enhancing quality of life and promoting independence, he delivers personalised medical management tailored to the unique needs of each individual. Dr Tennakoon is committed to supporting patients and their families through the complexities of ageing, ensuring a compassionate and reassuring healthcare journey.

His clinical practice encompasses a wide range of geriatric and general medicine services. Dr Tennakoon has a particular interest in comprehensive geriatric assessments, cognitive and memory evaluations, and the management of complex chronic diseases. He is highly skilled in addressing age-related concerns such as falls and balance issues, frailty, nutrition, and osteoporosis. Additionally, his expertise extends to the diagnosis and management of neurodegenerative conditions, including Parkinson's disease, as well as pain management and peri-operative care.

Dr Tennakoon completed his Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery at the University of Peradeniya, Sri Lanka, qualifying in 2005. He went on to obtain his Australian Medical Council Certificate in 2012 and was awarded a Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians in the Adult Medicine Division in 2019. To further support his patients requiring end-of-life care, he also holds a Clinical Diploma in Palliative Care Medicine. He is an active member of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians.
