Professor Peter Cosman

Professor. Peter Cosman is a highly accomplished Consultant Surgeon with over 20 years of experience, internationally recognised for his clinical and research excellence in surgery and healthcare delivery. Currently based at the Integrated Healthcare Wollongong Clinic, he specialises in upper gastrointestinal and hepatobiliary surgery, complex hernia repair, obesity and bariatric surgery, tumour surgery, gastro-oesophageal reflux management, and pancreatic cancer and surgical oncology. Prof. Cosman is also deeply committed to advancing surgical education and research.

He holds a Bachelor of Arts and a Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery from the University of Sydney, NSW, and a Doctor of Philosophy in Medicine from the same institution. Prof. Cosman is a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons, the American College of Surgeons, and the Royal Society of Medicine.

Throughout his career, Prof. Cosman has served as a Consultant Surgeon at prestigious institutions including St Vincent’s Private Hospital, Macquarie University Hospital, Chris O’Brien Lifehouse, Campbelltown Private Hospital, Kareena Private Hospital, Wollongong Private Hospital, and Double Bay Day Surgery in NSW. He has also held key academic roles as Conjoint Faculty with the Faculty of Medicine at the University of New South Wales and the Western Sydney University School of Medicine, and he is a Professor of Surgery at the University of Wollongong. Additionally, he has worked as an Upper Gastrointestinal/Hepatobiliary Surgeon with the Illawarra-Shoalhaven Local Health District in VIC and the South Western Sydney Local Health District in NSW, further underlining his extensive expertise and leadership in the field.
