Dr Paul Lilburn

Dr Paul Lilburn is a highly qualified and dedicated Respiratory Physician and Interventional Pulmonologist based in Randwick, Australia. He specialises in diagnosing and managing a wide range of respiratory and sleep disorders, with a particular focus on advanced lung diseases, lung cancer, and respiratory infections. Known for his reassuring and patient-centred approach, Dr Lilburn is committed to delivering evidence-based, compassionate care to help patients achieve optimal respiratory health.

Dr Lilburn completed his medical education at Aberdeen University, graduating with a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery in 2007. Prior to this, he obtained an intercalated Bachelor of Science with Honours in Medical Microbiology from the University of Newcastle upon Tyne. He completed his Membership of the Royal College of Physicians exams in the United Kingdom before relocating to Australia. Dr Lilburn also holds a Diploma in Tropical Medicine and Hygiene from the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine. He completed his advanced training across several major teaching hospitals in Sydney and is a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians. To further refine his expertise, he undertook two clinical fellowships, specialising in lung transplantation and interventional pulmonology.

As an expert in interventional pulmonology, Dr Lilburn possesses advanced technical skills in minimally invasive diagnostic and therapeutic procedures. His clinical capabilities include performing rigid bronchoscopy, endobronchial ultrasound, and complex airway interventions such as laser therapy, cryotherapy, and the insertion of endobronchial valves and stents. Beyond his clinical practice in Australia, Dr Lilburn has a strong interest in global health and has contributed to international medical initiatives, including working in West Africa during the 2015 Ebola epidemic. He is also actively involved in medical education, training the next generation of Respiratory Specialists in advanced bronchoscopy and thoracic ultrasound techniques.
