Dr Daniel Smith completed his undergraduate degree in Biomedical Science at Deakin University, majoring in Genetics and Cellular Biology and Biochemistry. He then went on to complete his medical studies at Melbourne University, qualifying in 2009. Following his graduation, he completed his internship at a regional base hospital. In 2014, he achieved fellowship with the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners, cementing his status as a specialist General Practitioner.
