Dr Patrick Dwyer

Dr Patrick Dwyer is a highly dedicated Radiation Oncologist and Associate Professor who provides compassionate, patient-centred care in Lismore, Australia. He is deeply committed to regional healthcare, thriving on direct, face-to-face patient contact and delivering comprehensive oncological support to his community. Dr Dwyer believes in a holistic, generalist approach to cancer care, ensuring that patients in regional areas receive the same high standard of treatment and clinical expertise as those in major metropolitan centres.

With a broad range of clinical interests, Dr Dwyer specialises in the management of various malignancies, with a particular focus on head and neck cancer and lung cancer. His expertise also extends to the treatment of breast cancer, prostate cancer, skin cancer, and lymphoma. To deliver the most precise and effective care, he utilises advanced radiation therapy technologies. These include Intensity-Modulated Radiation Therapy (IMRT), Volumetric Modulated Arc Therapy (VMAT), and Stereotactic Body Radiation Therapy (SBRT). Dr Dwyer is also actively involved in clinical trials and multidisciplinary cancer care teams, collaborating closely with other medical Specialists to co-ordinate tailored treatment plans for each patient.

Dr Dwyer completed his Bachelor of Science (BSc) and Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) at the University of Queensland, graduating in 2004. He is a Fellow of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Radiologists (FRANZCR). Alongside his clinical practice, Dr Dwyer is a passionate educator and academic. He holds the title of Associate Professor and has been instrumental in advancing regional medical education, successfully leading initiatives to accredit local facilities as radiation oncology teaching centres. Through his mentorship of junior Doctors and active participation in clinical research, he continues to contribute significantly to the advancement of oncology training and patient care standards.
