Dr Padmalatha Herath

Dr Padmalatha Herath is a dedicated and highly skilled General Practitioner who provides comprehensive, patient-centred care. With a broad clinical background, she is committed to supporting the health and well-being of individuals and families at every stage of life. Dr Herath approaches general practice with a reassuring and professional manner, ensuring that her patients feel heard, valued, and well-supported throughout their healthcare journeys. Throughout her career, Dr Herath has developed a diverse range of clinical interests, with particular expertise in women's health, paediatrics, and dermatology. She is highly proficient in managing chronic diseases, promoting preventative health, and creating tailored care plans. In addition to general consultations, she performs various minor surgical procedures, including the removal of simple cysts, ingrown toenail surgery, and skin tag removal. Her expertise also extends to specialised treatments such as iron infusions, steroid injections for alopecia, Implanon insertion and removal, as well as Mirena and IUD removals.

Dr Herath obtained her Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) from the University of Colombo, Sri Lanka, in 1985. Upon moving to Australia, she gained extensive clinical experience across multiple disciplines, including accident and emergency, general medicine and surgery, geriatrics, psychiatry, and obstetrics and gynaecology. She is a Fellow of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (FRACGP). To further her expertise, she completed a certificate in gynaecology and a one-year course in dermatology, earning an AID certificate. Alongside her clinical practice, Dr Herath is passionate about medical education, actively participating in training future General Practitioners and mentoring medical students.
