Dr Nigel Toussaint

Dr Nigel Toussaint is a highly regarded Nephrologist who has dedicated his career to the management of kidney disease and its associated complications. He provides comprehensive care for patients experiencing chronic kidney disease, focusing on minimising the impact of related conditions such as cardiovascular disease, hypertension, anaemia, and mineral and bone disorders. With a patient-centred approach, Dr Toussaint aims to deliver reassuring and evidence-based treatment plans tailored to individual health needs.

Dr Toussaint graduated with his medical degree from the University of Melbourne in 1997. He completed his advanced training in Nephrology and became a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians in 2006. Committed to advancing medical knowledge, he obtained a Graduate Diploma in Clinical Epidemiology from Monash University in 2007, followed by a Doctor of Philosophy from the same institution in 2009. He is an active member of the Australian and New Zealand Society of Nephrology and has completed a National Health and Medical Research Council National Institute of Clinical Studies Fellowship.

In addition to his clinical practice, Dr Toussaint is heavily involved in medical research and clinical trials. His research interests include vascular calcification, renal osteodystrophy, and cardiovascular risk in patients with chronic kidney disease. He has contributed significantly to the development of national and international clinical guidelines in Nephrology, ensuring that his patients benefit from the latest advancements in renal medicine. His expertise spans the management of patients undergoing peritoneal dialysis and haemodialysis, as well as those preparing for or recovering from a kidney transplant.
