Dr De Bruyn completed his medical training at the University of the Witwatersrand, where he graduated with his Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery in 1972. Following his graduation, he gained extensive clinical experience across various hospital departments in Johannesburg, Pretoria, and Cape Town before discovering his passion for family medicine. He subsequently established his career as a General Practitioner, eventually relocating to Australia where he has continued to serve local communities with distinction.

Throughout his career, Dr De Bruyn has developed a broad range of clinical interests, encompassing family medicine, chronic disease management, and preventative healthcare. He is highly skilled in managing complex health conditions, senior's health, and mental health concerns, whilst also providing essential services such as immunisations, travel medicine, and skin care assessments.
