Dr Nicholas Zwar

Dr Nicholas Zwar is a highly accomplished General Practitioner who provides comprehensive, patient-centred care. With a strong commitment to improving patient outcomes, he balances his clinical practice with significant contributions to medical education and research. Dr Zwar has a particular interest in the prevention and management of chronic illnesses, helping patients navigate complex health journeys with empathy and expertise. His clinical focus spans respiratory and cardiovascular health, tobacco control, and travel medicine.

In addition to his clinical work, Dr Zwar holds prominent academic and leadership positions, serving as a Professor and Executive Dean of health sciences and medicine at a leading Australian university. He is widely recognised both nationally and internationally for his health services research and has led the development of numerous clinical practice guidelines. Dr Zwar completed his medical training at the University of Adelaide, where he earned his Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery. He went on to complete postgraduate vocational training in general practice, followed by a Master of Public Health from the University of Sydney and a PhD from the University of Newcastle. He is a Fellow of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners and a Fellow of the Australasian College of Tropical Medicine.
