Dr Nicholas Bucknell

Dr Nicholas Bucknell is a highly qualified Radiation Oncologist who is dedicated to providing compassionate, patient-centred care. He specialises in both conventional and advanced stereotactic radiation therapy, utilising cutting-edge technologies to target tumours with high precision. Dr Bucknell is particularly passionate about using state-of-the-art techniques to minimise treatment-related side effects, ensuring his patients achieve the best possible clinical outcomes while maintaining their quality of life.

Throughout his career, Dr Bucknell has developed extensive expertise in treating a wide range of malignant and benign conditions. His primary areas of clinical interest include lung cancer, brain and spinal (CNS) tumours, gastrointestinal and colorectal cancers, skin cancers, and haematological malignancies. He is highly skilled in stereotactic body radiotherapy (SABR/SBRT) and radiosurgery, applying these advanced modalities to treat both primary and secondary tumours in the lung, liver, prostate, and brain, as well as various benign brain conditions.

Dr Bucknell completed his Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery with Honours at the University of Western Australia in 2012. He then undertook comprehensive specialist training in radiation oncology, culminating in being awarded a Fellowship of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Radiologists (FRANZCR). Committed to advancing the field of oncology, he also completed a PhD at the University of Melbourne and a subsequent research fellowship focusing on reducing treatment toxicity through stereotactic radiation therapy and advanced imaging. In addition to his clinical practice, Dr Bucknell is an Adjunct Professor who actively supervises postgraduate research students and serves as the Chair of the Faculty of Radiation Oncology Lung Interest Committee.
