Dr Neil Came

Dr Neil Came is a highly dedicated and accomplished Clinical Pathologist and Haematologist who specialises in the diagnosis and monitoring of complex blood and bone marrow disorders. With a patient-centred approach, he works closely with clinical and laboratory colleagues to ensure that individuals facing haematological conditions receive precise and timely diagnostic insights. His clinical focus centres on providing comprehensive support for patients navigating blood cancers, as well as offering expert guidance in transfusion and coagulation management.

In his daily practice, Dr Came utilises advanced diagnostic techniques, including multiparametric and computational flow cytometry, to evaluate disease progression and treatment efficacy. He has a particular interest in haematopathology, focusing on the precise assessment of haematological malignancies such as leukaemia, lymphoma, and plasma cell myeloma. His clinical work is heavily informed by his research into disease response assessment, particularly the detection of measurable residual disease (MRD), which plays a vital role in tailoring post-remission therapeutic strategies and improving patient outcomes.

Dr Came completed his medical training at Monash University, graduating with a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery with Honours in 1989. Committed to maintaining the highest standards of clinical excellence, he went on to complete Specialist Registrar training in both clinical and laboratory haematology. He is a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (FRACP) and a Fellow of the Royal College of Pathologists of Australasia (FRCPA). Additionally, Dr Came is an active member of several prominent domestic and international haematology and flow cytometry societies, ensuring his practice remains at the forefront of modern pathology.
