Dr Nakul Parashar

Dr Nakul Parashar is a highly regarded Consultant Psychiatrist who provides compassionate, patient-centred care. He specialises in General Adult Psychiatry, offering comprehensive assessments and evidence-based treatments for a wide range of mental health conditions. Dr Parashar is dedicated to establishing therapeutic relationships built on trust, collaboration, and mutual respect. His clinical approach is recovery-focused, aiming to empower patients, promote self-sufficiency, and foster long-term resilience and wellbeing.

Dr Parashar has a diverse educational and professional background, having completed his medical education and psychiatric training across several countries, including the former Soviet Union, India, the United Kingdom, and Australia. He holds a Doctor of Medicine (MD) and a Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS). Dr Parashar is a Fellow of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists (FRANZCP) and a Fellow of the Royal College of Psychiatrists (FRCPsych UK). Additionally, he holds a Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) in Adult and Addiction Psychiatry from the UK. He is an International Fellow of the American Psychiatric Association (IFAPA) and an Associate Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Medical Administrators (AFRACMA). Alongside his clinical practice, he serves as a Senior Lecturer in the Faculty of Medicine at The University of Queensland.

His primary areas of clinical interest include mood disorders such as depression, dysthymia, and bipolar affective disorder, as well as anxiety disorders and obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD). He is also highly skilled in the assessment and management of adult attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), psychotic disorders, personality disorders, and addictions. By utilising a holistic bio-psychosocial framework, Dr Parashar tailors his treatment plans to meet the unique needs of each individual, helping them navigate their mental health journey with confidence.
