Dr Miranda Sherley

Dr Miranda Sherley is a highly qualified General Practitioner and Sexual Health Physician who provides comprehensive, compassionate, and discreet care. With a dual focus on general medicine and sexual health, she is dedicated to supporting patients through a wide range of medical needs. Dr Sherley offers expert guidance in areas such as contraception, menopause, and both men's and women's health. Her reassuring and professional approach ensures that patients feel comfortable discussing sensitive health concerns, including sexual health screenings, transgender and gender-diverse medical care, and the management of sexually transmitted infections.

In addition to her specialised work as a Sexual Health Physician, Dr Sherley maintains a broad interest in all aspects of general practice. She is highly skilled in performing various minor clinical procedures, including skin cancer removals, Implanon insertions and removals, and intrauterine device (IUD) insertions and removals. Her clinical expertise also extends to the management of chronic viral conditions, such as HIV and hepatitis, as well as genital dermatology. By combining her general practice skills with advanced training in sexual health, she provides holistic and well-rounded medical care to her patients.

Dr Sherley began her professional journey as a Scientist, earning a Bachelor of Science with Honours and a Doctor of Philosophy in Ecology, Evolution and Systematics from the Australian National University in 2003. After a period working as a Lecturer at the University of Tasmania, she returned to the Australian National University to pursue her medical training, graduating with a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery in 2007. She went on to complete extensive postgraduate training, achieving Fellowship of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners in 2014. Committed to her specialty, she also completed advanced training in sexual health medicine, becoming a Fellow of the Australasian Chapter of Sexual Health Medicine under the Royal Australasian College of Physicians in 2018.
