Dr Michelle Barnes

Dr Michelle Barnes is a dedicated Consultant Paediatrician who provides comprehensive medical care for infants, children, and adolescents. With a reassuring and family-centred approach, she focuses on maximising health outcomes by working closely with families to enhance parental medical literacy and advocacy. Dr Barnes manages a broad spectrum of general paediatric concerns, ranging from infant feeding difficulties to chronic respiratory symptoms, ensuring that each young patient receives tailored, evidence-based care.

In addition to general paediatric medicine, Dr Barnes has a strong clinical interest in paediatric allergies and neurodevelopmental conditions. She is highly skilled in managing allergic diseases affecting the airways, skin, and gastrointestinal tract, including food allergies, eczema, and asthma. Her expertise also extends to supporting children facing learning challenges, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), and autism spectrum disorder. Furthermore, she provides specialised care for common childhood concerns such as constipation and enuresis (bedwetting).

Dr Barnes completed her medical degree at the University of Sydney, having previously earned a Bachelor of Science and a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in epidemiology in 2007. She completed her specialist training in general paediatrics in 2016. Driven by her interest in allergy management, she also obtained a Graduate Certificate in Allergic Diseases from Western Sydney University in 2016. Dr Barnes is an Associate Member of the Australasian Society of Clinical Immunology and Allergy (ASCIA) and a Member of the Neurodevelopment and Behavioural Paediatric Society of Australia (NBPSA).
