Dr Michael Oliffe

Dr Michael Oliffe is a highly qualified Consultant Rheumatologist who brings a unique and comprehensive perspective to patient care. With a foundational background as a Physiotherapist, he possesses a deep understanding of musculoskeletal health and physical rehabilitation. Dr Oliffe transitioned into medicine to further his ability to diagnose and manage complex conditions, establishing himself as a dedicated Rheumatologist. He currently serves as a Staff Specialist Rheumatologist and is actively involved in shaping the future of the profession as the Director of Training for a state-level rheumatology association.

In his clinical practice, Dr Oliffe manages a broad spectrum of rheumatological conditions. His areas of expertise encompass general rheumatology, with a particular focus on inflammatory arthritis, spondyloarthritis, vasculitis, and connective tissue diseases such as lupus. Combining his medical training with his prior experience as a sports Physiotherapist, he also maintains a keen clinical interest in sports-related injuries and is highly skilled in utilising musculoskeletal ultrasound to aid in precise diagnosis and targeted treatment planning. He provides compassionate, evidence-based care to adult patients, as well as adolescents aged sixteen and seventeen.

Dr Oliffe's extensive academic credentials include a Bachelor of Applied Science in Physiotherapy, a Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery with Honours, and a Graduate Certificate in Clinical Epidemiology. He is a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians, reflecting his high standards of clinical excellence.
