Dr Michael Field

Dr Michael Field is a highly dedicated Clinical Geneticist and Paediatrician who is committed to providing compassionate, patient-centred care. He specialises in diagnostic testing and the ongoing management of complex genetic conditions for both families and individuals. Dr Field strongly believes in a personalised model of care, working closely with his patients through a shared decision-making process to help them navigate and understand intricate genetic information.

With a deep understanding of the unique role that genetic medicine plays in disease prevention and management, Dr Field has developed a particular clinical interest in the genetic foundations of familial cancer and intellectual disability. His expertise extends to genomic medicine, reverse phenotyping, and rare disease diagnostics. He is actively involved in multidisciplinary care teams, ensuring that genetic risks and impacts are thoroughly assessed and appropriately interpreted to guide effective treatment plans.

Dr Field completed his medical degree (MB ChB) and went on to earn a Master of Philosophy from the University of Cambridge (MPhil Cantab). He is a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (FRACP), reflecting his advanced training and expertise in both clinical genetics and paediatrics. Throughout his career, he has also contributed significantly to research, collaborating on projects aimed at identifying and understanding genes associated with inherited intellectual disabilities and rare disorders.
