Dr Michael Beech

Dr Michael Beech is a highly qualified Forensic Psychiatrist and General Psychiatrist who provides expert psychiatric consultations and medico-legal assessments. With a career dedicated to understanding complex mental health conditions, he specialises in preparing independent reports for both civil and criminal matters. Dr Beech is committed to delivering objective, thorough, and reassuring evaluations for individuals navigating the legal and mental health systems, ensuring that each assessment is conducted with the utmost professionalism and care.

Throughout his distinguished career, Dr Beech has held several key leadership and clinical roles. He has served as the Medical Superintendent of a regional hospital, the Director of Child Psychiatry at a major children's hospital, and the Director of a metropolitan child and youth mental health service. Additionally, he has contributed to the broader medical community as a Senior Lecturer and as the Director of Medical Services at a private adult mental health hospital. His extensive background spans both public and private sectors, encompassing clinical practice, risk assessment, and expert witness testimony.

Dr Beech graduated from the University of Queensland in 1979 with a Bachelor of Medicine and a Bachelor of Surgery. He commenced his specialist training in psychiatry in 1990 and obtained his Fellowship of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists in 1995. The following year, in 1996, he achieved membership with the Faculty of Child and Adolescent Psychiatrists. Dr Beech is a foundation and accredited member of the Faculty of Forensic Psychiatry of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists, as well as an accredited member of the Faculty of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry. He also holds professional memberships with the American Academy of Psychiatry and the Law, and the Australian and New Zealand Association of Psychiatry, Psychology and Law.
