Dr Melody Chiou

Dr Melody Chiou is a dedicated General Practitioner who is committed to providing patient-centred, evidence-based care to individuals and families across all stages of life. She values the continuity and diversity of care that General Practice offers, and she is passionate about building long-term, trusting relationships with her patients. With a holistic approach to healthcare, she supports her patients in achieving optimal health outcomes through preventative medicine and comprehensive clinical management.

Dr Chiou completed her Bachelor of Applied Science in Physiotherapy before pursuing her postgraduate medical training. She graduated from the Australian National University with a Doctor of Medicine and Surgery in 2014. Demonstrating a commitment to continuous learning, she obtained a Diploma in Child Health in 2016. Dr Chiou was awarded Fellowship with the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners in 2021. She is also an accredited Antenatal Shared Care Provider.

Prior to entering General Practice, Dr Chiou gained broad clinical experience during her early training at major public hospitals, working across diverse fields such as renal medicine, gastroenterology, orthopaedics, emergency medicine, general surgery, paediatrics, and obstetrics and gynaecology. Her previous professional background as a Physiotherapist equips her with unique expertise in managing musculoskeletal conditions. Dr Chiou has a wide range of clinical interests, including women's health, paediatrics, chronic disease management, mental health, and skin cancer medicine. She is experienced in performing minor skin procedures for uncomplicated skin cancers, as well as Implanon insertion and removal. Additionally, she has expanded her clinical focus to include advanced management of type 2 diabetes.
