Dr May Tan

Dr May Tan is a dedicated and compassionate General Practitioner who provides comprehensive, holistic healthcare to individuals and families. She believes that the foundation of excellent medical care lies in building long-term, trusting relationships with her patients. Dr Tan is passionate about empowering individuals with health knowledge, supporting them through all stages of life, and working collaboratively to achieve positive, long-term health outcomes.

With a broad range of clinical interests, Dr Tan has developed advanced expertise in several key areas of General Practice. She is highly skilled in women's health, contraception, and family planning, and is accredited to perform both Mirena and Copper intrauterine device (IUD) insertions and removals, as well as Implanon procedures. Her clinical focus also extends to antenatal care, preventative healthcare, and paediatric medicine. Additionally, she has a strong interest in skin cancer medicine and primary care dermatology, performing minor surgical procedures such as skin lesion and cyst excisions, biopsies, and wound repairs. Dr Tan is also deeply committed to supporting young families, having completed specialised training in neuroprotective developmental care to assist parents with infant sleep, feeding, and development.

Dr Tan completed her Bachelor of Medicine at the University of Newcastle. Committed to continuous professional development, she has obtained a Diploma in Child Health from the University of Sydney and a Diploma of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists. Her postgraduate credentials also include a Diploma in Tropical Medicine and Hygiene, a Fellowship in Skin Cancer Medicine, and further studies towards a Certificate in Primary Care Dermatology. Demonstrating her commitment to the medical profession, Dr Tan has contributed to the broader healthcare community as a General Practice Registrar Supervisor, an Examiner for the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners, and a Representative on regional antenatal shared care committees.
