Dr Matthew Tagkalidis

Dr Matthew Tagkalidis is a highly qualified Consultant Psychiatrist who provides compassionate, evidence-based mental health care to adult patients. With a clinical focus on general adult psychiatry, he is dedicated to helping individuals navigate complex psychological challenges. Dr Tagkalidis specialises in diagnosing and treating a wide range of mental health conditions, offering a supportive and reassuring environment where patients feel heard and understood. His patient-centred approach ensures that treatment plans are tailored to the unique needs of each individual, promoting long-term recovery and well-being.

Dr Tagkalidis completed his medical degree at Monash University in 1993, qualifying as a Medical Practitioner. Following his initial medical training, he pursued specialist postgraduate studies, obtaining a Master of Psychological Medicine. He qualified as a Psychiatrist in 2002, earning admission as a Fellow of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists (FRANZCP). To further refine his expertise, he has undertaken advanced training and holds accredited memberships with both the Faculty of Consultation-Liaison Psychiatry and the Faculty of Psychotherapy.

In his clinical practice, Dr Tagkalidis focuses on the assessment and management of adults aged between 18 and 60. He has extensive experience in treating anxiety disorders, depression, and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). Utilising psychodynamic psychotherapy alongside other evidence-based therapeutic modalities, he works collaboratively with patients to address deep-seated emotional difficulties and improve overall mental health. In addition to his clinical work, Dr Tagkalidis provides civil medicolegal services, applying his specialist psychiatric expertise to legal and administrative assessments.
