Dr Matthew Roberts

Dr Matthew Roberts is a highly qualified and dedicated Nephrologist who provides comprehensive care for patients experiencing a wide range of kidney-related conditions. With a clinical focus on the management of chronic kidney disease, he is committed to delivering personalised, evidence-based treatment plans that prioritise patient well-being and long-term health outcomes. Dr Roberts specialises in diagnosing and managing complex renal disorders, helping patients navigate the challenges of kidney health with empathy and professional expertise.

His clinical interests span several key areas of renal medicine, including haemodialysis, peritoneal dialysis, and the management of cardiovascular complications associated with chronic kidney disease. Dr Roberts also has a strong interest in obstetric nephrology, supporting women with kidney conditions through pregnancy, as well as the treatment of lupus nephritis. Through his comprehensive approach, he ensures that patients receiving kidney replacement therapy or undergoing pre- and post-transplantation care receive the highest standard of support.

Dr Roberts completed his advanced training in Nephrology in 2003. He subsequently undertook extensive research into the biochemical markers of cardiovascular disease in patients with chronic kidney disease, culminating in the award of his PhD in 2007 from the University of Melbourne. In addition to his clinical practice, he is actively involved in clinical research and trials aimed at improving patient outcomes. Dr Roberts holds several prominent professional roles, serving as the Chair of the Haemodialysis Work Group for both the Australasian Kidney Trials Network Scientific Committee and the Australia and New Zealand Dialysis and Transplant Registry. He also contributes to the academic community as an Adjunct Associate Professor at Monash University.
