Dr Matthew Masel

Dr Matthew Masel is a dedicated and highly qualified General Practitioner who provides comprehensive primary healthcare services in regional Australia. As a Practice Partner with a deep commitment to rural medicine, he delivers essential medical care across a broad spectrum of clinical needs. His practice is characterised by a patient-centred approach, ensuring that individuals and families in rural communities receive the highest standard of medical attention.

With a diverse range of clinical interests, Dr Masel specialises in several key areas of medicine. He has a strong focus on Obstetrics, providing vital maternal and antenatal care to support growing families. Additionally, his clinical expertise extends to Aboriginal Health, Geriatrics, and the management of Zoonoses (infectious diseases transmitted from animals to humans). Through his multifaceted practice, he is dedicated to addressing health inequities and improving health outcomes for all patient demographics, from newborns to the elderly.

Dr Masel completed his Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) at the University of Queensland, qualifying in 1994. Committed to continuous professional development, he has earned numerous postgraduate qualifications and fellowships. He obtained his Fellowship of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (FRACGP) in 2002, followed by an Advanced Diploma of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (DRANZCOG Adv) in 2012. He was awarded a Fellowship of Advanced Rural General Practice (FARGP) in 2019, a Fellowship of the Australian College of Rural and Remote Medicine (FACRRM) in 2022, and a Fellowship of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners - Rural Generalist (FRACGP-RG) in 2023. He is also an active member and Past President of the Rural Doctors Association of Queensland (RDAQ).
