Dr Matthew Hansen

Dr Matthew Hansen is a dedicated and highly skilled General Practitioner who provides comprehensive primary care to his patients. With a diverse clinical background that spans emergency medicine, and previous roles as a Cardiac and Intensive Care Nurse and a Remote Area Nurse, Dr Hansen brings a wealth of practical knowledge and a reassuring approach to his medical practice. He is deeply committed to supporting long-term health and wellbeing through preventative medicine and early intervention, ensuring that every patient receives individualised and high-quality care.

Dr Hansen graduated from the University of New South Wales Rural Medicine Programme in 2009, obtaining his Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery. He subsequently completed his fellowship with the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners in May 2015, achieving Fellowship status. To further his expertise in a critical area of Australian healthcare, he also completed a Master of Medicine specialising in Skin Cancer at the University of Queensland. In addition to his clinical work, Dr Hansen is actively involved in medical education, providing rural training for Medical Registrars and students.

In his daily practice, Dr Hansen focuses on a broad range of General Practice services, with a particular interest in skin cancer medicine. His clinical capabilities include conducting thorough skin cancer checks, performing excisions and biopsies, and managing complex wounds. He is also highly experienced in chronic disease management, administering immunisations and vaccinations, and conducting mental health assessments to develop tailored care plans. His extensive background in emergency care and remote medicine enables him to address diverse and acute patient needs with confidence and precision.
