Dr Matthew Gutman

Dr Matthew Gutman is a Neurosurgeon with a special interest in functional neurosurgery, brain mapping for tumours and epilepsy, neurovascular disorders, and spinal surgery for spinal disorders.

Dr Gutman is a member of the Royal Australian College of Surgeons and practices privately at Cabrini Hospital in Malvern. He also has public hospital appointments at The Alfred and Austin Hospitals.

Dr Gutman completed his medical degree at Monash University in 2007. After completing his fellowship in neurosurgery, he pursued further fellowships in flexible endoscopy and hydrocephalus in Mbale, Uganda. He then moved to the United Kingdom for advanced training in functional neurosurgery at The National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery (Queen’s Square) and Cambridge University Hospital (Addenbrooke’s), where he refined his skills in neurovascular surgery and minimally invasive spine surgery. He became a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons in 2019.
