Dr Matthew Edwards

Dr Matthew Edwards is a highly dedicated and compassionate General Practitioner who specialises in comprehensive, patient-centred care. With a professional philosophy rooted in building strong, long-term connections with his patients, he welcomes individuals of all ages and backgrounds. Dr Edwards initially began his medical career as an Emergency Physician, where he gained extensive experience managing acute and complex cases. Driven by a desire for greater continuity of care, he transitioned to General Practice, where he now applies his broad clinical expertise to support the ongoing health and well-being of the community.

Dr Edwards obtained his Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) alongside a Bachelor of Science in Psychology (BSc Psych) from the University of London, qualifying in 1998. Committed to achieving the highest standards of clinical excellence, he completed postgraduate speciality training in both the United Kingdom and Australia. He is a Fellow of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (FRACGP) and a Member of the Royal College of General Practitioners (MRCGP) in the United Kingdom. Additionally, he holds a Membership of the Royal College of Emergency Medicine (MRCEM) and has earned the Advanced Certificate in Skin Surgery from the University of Queensland.

He has a keen clinical interest in men's health, women's health, and paediatric care, and he is certified to provide shared antenatal care. His surgical and procedural skills are highly developed; he regularly performs comprehensive skin cancer checks, skin cancer excisions, and minor surgical procedures such as ingrowing toenail resections and lump removals. Dr Edwards is also experienced in managing musculoskeletal and sports injuries, cardiology, diabetes, mental health, and palliative care, ensuring his patients receive holistic and reassuring support at every stage of life.
