Dr Johnson shares her expertise by teaching on RACS courses (ASSET and CcRISP), her main teaching interests are surgical techniques for Gallbladder Surgery, Gastroscopy, Advanced Oesophageal and Gastric Surgery, Hernia Surgery and Gastric and Oesophageal Cancer. She has been on the RACS Victorian State Committee and had a position as a professional advisor on the St Vincent's Hospital Human Research Ethics Committee.
In addition to her wealth of professional experience, Dr Johnson has been an active researcher in the field. Her main research interests involve improving the quality of life for patients after major oesophago-gastric surgery. She has shared her passion for research by presenting her work at conferences globally.

I know Dr Johnson now for 6 years when I fehlt at my worst. She has been always there for me, patiently listening to my concerns and helping me out. Excellent doctor!

Dr Johnson was amazing. Very friendly, made time to explain all my questions and put my mind at ease. I was extremely stressed as I had transferred from Maroondah hospital where I was put into a room with 3 older men with mental health issues and felt exposed and very uneasy about my safety. Also had a baby just 4 weeks earlier. I transferred to epworth upon my request and could not fault them. I have had no complications due to this surgery and really happy with the results. Please pass on my thanks to Dr Johnson. Highly recommend her

Dr Johnson explained the hernia surgery very thoroughly. Her manner was calm, certain and reassuring, all questions I had were answered. I was apprehensive about having the surgery but knew the hernias needed to repaired particularly the Femoral hernia. When I did decide to proceed I felt completely at ease with Dr Johnson performing the surgery, and having read some reviews felt confident I had chosen a very proficient surgeon. This proved to be the case, I have had the hernia repairs five weeks ago, everything went very smoothly and I am recovering well. Before and after the surgery I had need to contact her with some queries and her response time and advice was excellent. Very caring. I can highly recommend Dr Johnson

Procedure and risks were well explained. Dr Johnson has a no fuss approach, I was attended to very promptly and I felt comfortable going into the surgery. Everything went as expected and I'm very happy with the outcome.

If you need a fundoplication then I can’t recommend Mary Ann more She was wonderful. Looked after me. Very happy with her.
