Dr. Marion Matheson

Dr. Marion Matheson is a highly dedicated Geriatrician and Aged Care Specialist who is passionate about providing comprehensive, integrated care to older individuals. She specialises in supporting older adults as they navigate complex medical journeys, particularly those involving surgery or cancer treatments. With a compassionate and patient-centred approach, Dr. Matheson works closely with multidisciplinary teams to ensure that her patients receive holistic care tailored to their unique needs, helping them maintain their independence and quality of life.

Her primary areas of clinical interest include oncogeriatrics and perioperative medicine, where she provides vital support to older patients before, during, and after surgical procedures or oncology therapies. Additionally, Dr. Matheson is deeply committed to promoting healthy ageing, preventing falls, managing frailty, and safely deprescribing medications. By focusing on these key areas, she aims to optimise the health outcomes of her patients and guide them and their families through the complexities of the healthcare system.

Dr. Matheson completed her undergraduate medical education at the University of Bristol in the United Kingdom, graduating with a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery in 2014, alongside a Bachelor of Science with Honours. Upon returning to Australia, she completed her comprehensive medical and specialist geriatric training across several prominent hospitals in Sydney, focusing on the northern coastal and lower north shore regions. She is a Fellow of the Royal Australian College of Physicians. Dr. Matheson is also an active member of the Australian and New Zealand Society for Geriatric Medicine, where she serves on the Research and Safety Committee and the Perioperative Special Interest Group, and she holds a membership with the International Society of Geriatric Oncology.
