Mrs Lieszel Melo

Dr Mariana Melo is a highly qualified Paediatric Allergist and Immunologist who provides dedicated care to infants, children, and teenagers. With a reassuring and patient-centred approach, she specialises in diagnosing and managing a wide range of allergic and immunological conditions. Her clinical focus encompasses the management of food allergies and intolerances, eczema, asthma, hayfever, and anaphylaxis. Dr Melo is committed to helping families navigate the complexities of immune-related disorders, ensuring that young patients receive the support they need to thrive.

Dr Melo completed her Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) at the Federal University in Brazil in 2002. She went on to undertake specialist training in General Paediatrics, Immunology, Allergy, and Rheumatology at the University of Sao Paulo. After relocating to Australia, she completed an advanced Fellowship in Paediatric Immunology and Allergy at a leading tertiary children's hospital. Dr Melo is a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (FRACP). She maintains active professional memberships with several prestigious bodies, including the Australasian Society of Clinical Immunology and Allergy (ASCIA) and the World Allergy Organisation (WAO).

In her clinical practice, Dr Melo offers comprehensive diagnostic investigations and evidence-based treatments tailored to each child's unique needs. Her expertise includes conducting skin prick testing and oral food challenges, as well as managing complex conditions such as Food Protein-Induced Enterocolitis Syndrome (FPIES), eosinophilic oesophagitis, and drug allergies. She is also highly skilled in administering allergen immunotherapy for environmental allergies and insect anaphylaxis, alongside oral immunotherapy (OIT) for preschool children. Through her dedication to clinical research and education, Dr Melo remains at the forefront of advancements in paediatric allergy and immunology.
