Dr Marcus Chia

Dr Marcus Chia is a Sydney-based orthopaedic surgeon specialising in shoulder and elbow surgery. His practice focuses on restoring function through the surgical and non-surgical care of patients, combining his surgical experience with prior experience as a physiotherapist. Dr Chia treats a wide range of conditions including arthritis, rotator cuff tears, instability, fracture, and uncommon shoulder and elbow conditions. He cares about his patients and is committed to ensuring that they understand their condition, the best way to treat it, and what is required to achieve the best possible outcome. Dr Chia aims to use the most current arthroscopic and surgical techniques to ensure function and quality of life is preserved for his patients.

Dr Chia received intense, specialized training in shoulder and elbow surgery at the Alps Surgery Institute in France, guided by Dr Laurent Lafosse, a pioneer in shoulder arthroscopy. He also underwent additional specialist training in shoulder and elbow surgery at the Brighton and Sussex University Hospital NHS Trust in the UK. Dr Chia received his Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (FRACS) fellowship in 2011 and is a fellow of the Australian Orthopaedic Association. He has also had multiple papers published in prestigious medical journals.
